Outbound Orientation Weekend #1 - April 3-4, 2004

District 6970's Outbound Class of 2004-05 spent the first weekend in April at Camp Montgomery, just outside of Keystone Heights, learning the "ins and outs" of Rotary Youth Exchange, and having fun as well. Helping out were five of our current inbounds, kneeling in front: Ania, Diogo, Luise, Andy, and Kaew.

Ken Weiss talks to the outbounds about what Rotary expects of exchange students.

Discussions continue through Saturday morning, this group led by Fred Page.

Lawrene Bishop and Bob Rella take their message to the outdoors group.

Kira and Makena attempt to lead Jacob and Matt on a blindfolded walk to begin the fun.

Turnabout is fair play for Jacob this time.

Left, right, left, right ... teamwork is the key.

Rumor has it that Kira has almost reached her puppet limit!

A new technique might make it easier for this squad.

Jackie and Samantha kneeling, everyone else trying to move around while staying on the log.

Morgan's choice of footwear may have given her an advantage on this exercise.

Michael and Sam are anything but "bored" .. or are they?

It's Anna's turn to walk the plank. Everyone made it across!

Jackie reaching, reaching, reaching. Facilitator Vicky is there to help.

Photo opportunity at the spider web. What a smart team this proved to be!

It's not her best angle, but that looks like Meryn doing the "Trust Fall".

Another trusting friend, as Elliott relies on his outbound mates.

Jen about to take her dive.

Jackie begins her fall.

Kira's turn next.

And Samantha as well.

At the lake, Katie entertains Sam.

Morgan looks like she won a gold!

Kira and Makena pretending the water is nice and warm!

The armada has arrived, and the battle is about to begin.

An impromptu attempt to master Sit-Down Walking.

Didn't set any records, but we sure had fun trying!

Megan may have had an advantage when it came to limbo.

How LOW can you go?

Jen is going to Argentina, so learning how to drink maté is a key part of orientation!

But Sam's heading for Germany. What's the logic in this?

Almost forgot - in preparation for this second orientation, several of our outbounds went to St. Augustine for some cultural immersion! Click for full-size pictorial glory!
Hey, we had a good time at our first orientation, too!
