First Outbound Orientation, January 11-13, 2008

The first-ever class of RYE-Florida outbound students came together in January for their initial orientation weekend, at Lake Yale Baptist Conference Center in Leesburg, FL. Representing six Rotary districts and two countries (the US and the Bahamas), a total of 52 students got to know each other, learned a lot about the Rotary Youth Exchange program, and had fun along the way as well.

Our staff of 16 Rotarians and 11 Rotex (former outbounds) kept the weekend agenda moving and the information flowing, while still allowing for some free time, and a few hours on Saturday night watching football.

This orientation marks the beginning of the journey for these newly selected outbounds, but it also is a milestone for RYE-Florida, as the first official event of the new multi-district organization. Clearly, we're off to a great start!
