Fourth Annual Welcome Home Dinner was Spectacular

The hall was filled, the stories were plentiful, and the results were clear to see - District 6970's former outbound students all had amazing experiences during their exchanges in 2006-07. From spending ten days in silent meditation to being thrown up on by a traveling companion (and soon-to-be best friend), the memories that these young people shared with a crowd of 250+ has indeed changed their lives forever.

One by one, the newly designated "rebounds" told about learning new languages, becoming part of new families and cultures, and facing the dread of saying goodbye to their lives abroad and all the people that made them so special. It was an inspiring evening, for the Rotarians in the crowd who sponsored these students; for the parents who, for the most part, funded it and have seen dramatic changes in their sons and daughters; and for the 2007-08 outbounds, who received a small taste of what awaits them when they head abroad in the next few weeks.

Each student was allotted only 5-6 minutes to speak (although, in true Rotary speaker fashion, some went a bit long). To hear more from these teenage ambassadors, Rotary clubs are urged to schedule rebound students to provide programs at regular Rotary meetings. There is no doubt that your clubs will be amazed, amused, and inspired by this wonderful group.
