Aya's Bio

My name is Aya Nabeshima. I am sixteen years old. I come from Ishikawa, Japan. I have two brothers, one who lives in Tokyo, and one who goes to school in Kanazawa. I have a noisy cat named Juri. I like to play the piano and I also like to play volleyball.

I really like Florida, but I miss my friends in Japan, as well as Japanese food. I would like to make lots of new friends here.

September 12 Journal

Hi. This is Aya!! This is my first month in Florida. A hurricane came to Florida!!!! There were a lot of rain, lightning, and strong wind…I was so scared. A tree crashed through our screen porch into our swimming pool. We had no electricity and it was dark.  I was sorry that I was in Florida just then.

September 11, I went to the Swamp and saw the Gators football game. I really liked the cheerleaders and the half time show. I had a very good time!!!!!!! Florida won! (^^) I'm so happy. There were a lot of people and they put on blue and orange clothes. Of course I put on blue clothes too! I want to attend a game again.  I'm a big Gator fan now.

October 12 Journal & Pictures

This is my second month in Florida. How fast the time passes!! As time goes by, I am used to this life.

October 1st

I went to the football game with Danielle (she is my second host sister) and her friends. This game was between GHS (my school) vs. EHS (Danielle and friend’s school). I was the only one cheering for GHS!! So, we watched the game sitting on the side that rooted for EHS. And I had to pretend to cheer for EHS. My school lost. But it was really fun!!

October 3rd

I went to the Museum of Natural History with John, Javier (from Mexico), and John’s friend. There were a lot of kinds of fossils. It was really interesting to me!! 24 million years ago, Florida was under the sea!!! It’s amazing, isn’t it? I now know what ancient Florida was like . And today (October 10th), I will go back there with my friend again, because the chocolate festival opens in this museum today. We will eat a lot of chocolate!!

I went to a party for my ESOL class. This party was really fun!! We had to bring some typical foods in our country. We played games, ate, and took a lot of pictures. I got a stuffed Gator animal.. It’s so pretty! And, I made a lot of new friends in the other countries. I enjoyed the party!!!(^_^*)

School life

I like my school! I made a lot of friends, and they are so nice!! I take two ESOL classes, P.E. (volleyball), Biology, Math and American history. My favorite subject is American history. It’s really hard for me. But classmates are really nice people!!! And the teacher is also very nice!!!

In America, I have too much homework and test (quizzes) everyday!!!!!!!!

I love my host family!!!! They are really nice!! They are very helpful and funny!! Recently, I was taught some bad words by my family (sh__). (^^) It’s so fun!! And my mom and dad can make very good foods!!!! My favourite food is RICE!!!! VERY GOOD!!!! I want to eat it everyday!

It is difficult to speak English for me. But I will study more and I want to talk more…

Lots of love, Aya

March 7 Journal

Hey! what's up? Last week, I checked Rotary Website. And then, I was so surprised!! I didn't write a journal since October!!! I'm sorry... But I'm fine!!!(^_^:)

October 18th. I moved to my second host family. They are also awesome!!!!! I really love them. I talk a lot with them everyday. That's nice, isn't it? They have 2 sons and 1 daughter. The oldest is in California for his college. The other one is 14 years old. He is so nice and so funny! He makes me happy everyday. (grin*) The daughter is an exchange student from Rotary and she is in France now. My host parents are both doctors. They teach me English. I live with Javier who is from Mexico. So, I can also learn Spanish!!! (^^)

January 8th was my birthday!!! It was so cool!! My friend invited me to her house, and I slept over night at her house. In the night, we went to "Walmart" and "K-mart" because I had never been to there until then. It was kind of "paradise" for me because they have a lot of clothes and toys!!! The best reason is CHEAP!!! lol. Have you ever been there? There is so cool! I got many clothes and 2 barbies! hahaha Next day, I went to movie with my friend (Daisey), her sister (Mary) and her brother (Brian). We watched "Fat Albert". Do you know this movie? It was GREAT movie!!! It based on anime and kind of love story. It was awesome, anyway. My friend has 6 sisters and one brother. They are sooooooooooo nice and sweet!!! I love them. This day, I got 4 whole cakes from my family and my friends. I also got many presents. I had a really nice day.

I wanted to put a picture, but my camera is something wrong... so I will put many picture next time.

See you later! Jane!! Aya
