Adam's Bio

Hi I'm Alice. I'm from Italy, so called "il Bel Paese" and I live near Milano in the north of Italy.

I'm 17 year- old and I'll spend my 18 birthday (4 June) next year here in USA.
I live with my parents, my little brother(8 year-old) and my grandmother but some of my uncles, aunts and cousins live in my city, so I can see they often.

My Italian school is called "Classic high school" ,I study Greek, Latin, Italian, philosophy, history, art history, English, chemistry, biology, and math.

In my free time I usually play tennis or swimming like sports, spend time whit my friends, do shopping and just have fun; My Italian's life is very beautiful but I like try new things, for this I decided to spend one year in America.

I love travel and I travel a lot but I've never been in America before this experience , so for me is all new.

Now I'm living in Ormond beach, close to Daytona beach, whit my host sister ,my host parents and one cat and one dog(I HATE animals) ; I arrived here 2august,so I'm here from more than 3 weeks.
I go to Seabreeze high school in Daytona beach, is a very big school ,very different than my Italian, I have my locker, there are some different sports team like footbal, tennis, swimming and some differents clubs like yearbook and other ( in Italy we haven't these).

I thought that American school was better than Italian school but now I don't think so, I mean, I have to change class every period and school is from 7:30am to 2:45pm!

I wanted to be a senior and to be graduate here ,but in my high school exchange students can't be senior, so I'm just junior!

I always dreamed to live in America for one year, I'm happy  that I'm living here now, but I also understand that the true American life is different than what you can see in the movies!

I want just say THANK YOU Rotary!

September 21

It's almost two month that I'm here in Florida and last week I had probably one of the most excited weeks that I'll have during this year!

At my school was the Homecoming week: Thursday carnival and pep-rally were so fun, at the end of pep-rally the football players were dressed like cheerleaders and vice-versa; Friday night football game ( Iuse to go every Friday at the football games, are so fun!); and Saturday night homecoming dance!

Homecoming dance was very fun but very very strange too! In Italy we don't dance like here and I was so embarrassed for that!

This Thursday I'm gonna go to some classes with my chairman to talk with the student about this program "Rotary Youth Exchange" and Saturday I'm gonna go to the Rotary' s party, so this week also is going good!

November 23

Finally is Thanksgiving so we have 5 days-off of schools, and I'm spending these holidays with Enrico, the other exchange form Italy, and his family.

Right now we are in Sanford, where they live, but we are going to Tampa tomorrow.
I'm very happy right now, I've just spent one amazing week-end in St. Augustine with Janelle, (his brother is hosted by my family in Italy)  and her family , they live in St. Augustine and I really love them!

Saturday night was amazing, I met Marea, she is one Janelle's friends and she was in Italy last year and I met her there, so it was so strange to meet her now, here in Florida,

I'm having  a really good time in my high school, making a lot of friends!

Two Fridays ago it  was the last football game and I could stay in the field and I got some pictures with the football players and the cheerleaders. I loved it!

I really love Seabreeze, but I also miss my Italian life when school finish in the afternoon.

I think is kind of hard  to hang out here in America , I don't know how to real explain what I mean, and obviously I miss my family because they are the best family in the World for me; but anyway I'm always glad of the experience that I'm living , because not everybody has this chance!

My English now also is kind of very good, except for my accent; I've been here for almost four months but my Italian accent is still here , but everyone loves it, so i don't even want to change it !

I'm kinda hating American food so bad right now, because I got almost 25 pounds, so I basically can not fit in all my Italian clothes anymore!

I'm going to watch "Dancing with the stars" with Enrico now.

February 17

Halo everybody, I finally found time to write this journal while my host family is cooking pizza, that I haven't done for like three months.

A lot of things fortunately happened, since Christmas break.

After I spend that break with my two Italians friend Erika and Enrico, I got back in Ormond beach, and the 1st of January I changed host family.

How most of the people already know, I really didn't like my first host family, and I was about to hate most of the Americans because of them, but now I'm really enjoying this experience.

I really like my host family , my host mum is Italian and my host dad is very cool (he was next to me and he told me to make sure to say that) and now I have a totally different opinion about America and Americans finally.

Sometimes I'm sad when I think that I could live probably one of the best year in my life, but unfortunately I will have just five good months.

I seriously don't understand how the time is going, I mean sometimes it seems that I've been here for 7 years, and other times it seems last week, and if I think that I've spent almost seven months without my parents, family and friends, I don't even realize that!

This experience is about to finish, about three months and some days for me, and I'm sure ,will arrive so soon, because time is like flying now for me .

When I think about what I'm doing, I think I did the best choice of my life like 15 months ago when I decided to be an exchange and I feel like I've been blessed for everything in my life.

Two weekends ago we were in the Keys with all the other exchanges and I had such a great time , I had fun, and I miss them! I wish we could have other events to get all together!

School is going good, as always, actually today I got a letter to became a member of the National Honor Society because my GPA is good, and I'm pretty proud of my self for that.

My daily life changed a lot since when I moved! basically my day starts at 4:30 am, because I'm going to the gym with my host parents, I'm trying to loose weight after gained of 20 pounds, but it seems that is not working, I don't understand what's wrong with me and American food, probably everything, then school, and then in the afternoon depends day by day.

I'm doing pretty good, I mean I obviously miss my Italy, and my life, totally different from American life, but al least now I can say that I'm having a good time, I have to say that my favorite country is still Italy of course, but I found that America is not that bad at all, and there are great people also in this Country, not just in Europe.

After almost seven months, the worst thing that I can't really stand anymore, and it drives me crazy all the time, is when I meet someone and he says: oh you know, I'm Italian too, yes my grand grandparents are from Sicily. that's is so annoying, and then obviously all the freak Italian restaurants, food and stuff like that!

I love to talk, people know that, but at the same time I really don't like that much to write , so I'm done for this journal!

Have a great time, everywhere you are, everything you are doing, life is too fabulous to waist time to complain( I use to complain all the time, but al least I know that I do it)

.
