Alix's Bio

I my name is Alix, I'm come from Belgium. Here I live in Bonita Springs with Eileen and Jennifer Cline! They are very nice, I love them! I like the landscape, with the beach, with the vegetation... it's very beautiful.

In Belgium, I have 3 brothers, Arnaud 21 years old, Adrien 19 years old and Amaury 11years old! My mom's name is Anne-Michele and my father's name is Etienne. My mom is a nurse and my father a cook and a politician.

I live in a little town between Bruxelles and Liège. I have decided to make this exchange student, because i love traveling around the world and to discovered new cultures... I'm very happy to be here.
I'm very active for sport and other activities with my friend... I would like engaged my in a lot of activities, so I can meet a lot of people and discovered new things.

I would say "thank you" to my host family and to my host club! Because they give me a very important opportunity, and so wonderful:)

So I hope that this year w-will be the best of my life:) thank you for everything.

September 23

Hey everybody, so my first month in Florida is very very amazing! I begin the school since one month now, and in the beginning it was a little difficult to find the classes, to understand the teachers and the students, to make friends. But now it became more and more easy!  I’m in two clubs, the interact club, where there is a lot of cool people and the art club! The two are perfect. I begin also lacrosse in fort myers because it’s not now the training with the school time , so we have practice in fort myers!! This sport is very great, I meet a lot of nice girls.

The school is very different but I like it, it’s almost the same in the movies. The classes are very different and very easy. I have only A now, I’m lucky because is not all the time like thisJ

My host family is very goodJ I love them, there are very nice with me… And we make some activities like both, jet ski, tubs… That’s very great.

My host club is also very cool, I have a wonderful councilor J she is so nice with me and his husband to. The people from the club are also very nice! There is one miss, who give me a stick for playing lacrosseJ I was so happy.

The schedule for the dinner, lunch,… are very a little difficult for me, because it takes time to accustom!

I’m very happy to have a good family , because it’s easierJI just love my host family. I really consider them as my family. I know I can count on them. They have been here when it was hard but also for the fun. I already don't want to leave them.

Being an exchange student can be very hard, but you can also have a lot of fun, meat a lot of nice people, make a lot of news experiences. I already have souvenirs I will remember my entire life.

I want to say thank you so much Rotary Youth Exchange. My parents for your support. And my awesome host families.

November 21

It's since already 3 months that I'm in Florida... the time go so fast. I'm already thinking that my friends will miss me so much when i will be back in Belgium.

I learned so much during this time, how much is hard to be so far away from all my family, my friends... But what a great life that i have here! My host family is so nice, the friends that i have are also so nice with me:)

I begin to find my place in this country. Now I'm certified in scuba diving, I will begin the tennis in December and begin to play lacrosse for the school, i will also going to NY thus day, I'm so so excited, it's like a dream who come true:) and i will have my birthday and Thanksgiving there, what a great American holiday:)

I'm really happy, and i want to thank all the people who make my life so good here in Florida! I love you so much America!!:)

December 28

4 months and 14 days, that sounds not so long, but it's already almost the half of my year! Time goes so fast, that I can see it. I'm already thinking about all the things, people, places that I will miss a lot.

I was waiting so much time to come here, talking about that all the time, and now that I'm here, I don't realized. This is a so great experience. Of course we have some difficult moments but I think its a part of the experience. I learned a lot about myself, my limits, thinking a lot before acting because I'm alone and I need to be an adult now, try to manage problem by myself... I also realized that I need to spend some time by myself and think about my experience, that's help me a lot!

This past days, we had Christmas:) I love this time of the year, but this one was so different! I always thought that a Christmas without snow is not a Christmas. But actually they did a good job. There were decorations everywhere, Christmas music and movies all the time, a lot a present, huge tree, and a wonderful dinner:) I didn't wont to talk to my family because I wouldn't be sad, but they really wanted so... But it was ok, I could past over that!

I love to say that I wear shorts and t-shirts and that we are the 28th of December. That's a kind of funny.
We began the real lacrosse practice this week, I'm sure that I will have a lot of fun. I want to play that sport in my country, but that's going to be a little hard.

A couple of days ago, I went to an other ice hockey game, I love that so much. The first time that I went, I was sad there wasn't any fight! And everybody know that you come to see a game for the fights!! But this time we had the biggest one that I ever see, all the both teams were fighting each other. I had so much fun.
I 'm really proud of me, to live my life alone, without people, places, culture that looks familiar from me! And I'm so excited for the next months that I will live in this wonderful world, Florida:)

I want also to say thank you to my club, who give me the possibility to go to Disney with all the exchanges students, that was probably the best time that I had here:)

And also thank you to all the people who make my live easier and give me the chance to live something really unique and unforgettable. THANK YOU!!!
By the way: love you exchanges students!
