Bia's Bio

Hi, my name is Beatriz, I’m 16 years old.
This is the first time that I’m travelling abroad and living far from my family. Before I came to Lutz, Florida, I used to live with my parents in Fernandópolis, SP, Brazil. I have one brother, but he is in the college and lives in São Paulo, SP, so he just go to my home on holydays and breaks.

There, my weeks were basically go to school until 1:00 pm, and twice, or sometimes third times a week come back to school in the afternoon  and stay there for 1h30min/2hours having more classes.

On weekends, I always used to do something with my friends. Whatever we were doing, we were together, even if it’s to do nothing. And every Sunday, I used to go to Interact Club meetings.

I became an Interact Club member on September 13, 2009. In 2010-2011 I became a “vice president of community”, and on January 2011 the “president of community” got off of the club so I started to take care of this. Our project of the community is give food to some poor families. So every week, I used to take 2 or 3 interact´s members to go with me and the Consoler of the club to by food, and then, go to the families’ home to give the food. So, I was always doing things to the Interact club, during the weeks and weekends. I really like to help other people, help in environment projects, etc… And I can say that interact taught me lots of things, made and still making part of my life.

My Sponsor Club is Rotary Club de Fernandópolis. On 2010-2011 I used to go every meeting on Wednesday. I really like my club!

I decided to do exchange year when I was 13 years old. In that time I didn’t know about Rotary yet, and didn´t know that they have this kind of program. But then I knew about them and about Interact and started to be more interesting to know what they do. On April until July of 2010, I could have a good experience of having an Exchange Student from US in my home.

Now, I can´t believe that is my turn, that I’m here. I would like to thank the RYE Florida, my host club (Land O' Lakes Rotary Club), and my sponsor club (Rotary Club de Fernandópolis), to give me this wonderful opportunity, and I will do everything to enjoy every experience, by the way, is something that I always wish for. Thank you very much.
