My
name is Jessica. Presently I am 17 years old. I am the youngest of three
sisters and I live with my parents in a village called Joure in the
Netherlands, in the province of Friesland.
Here we live in a modern stand alone house, build in 2001, near a small
waterway. Our province is famous for all its waterways and small lakes. We
also have our own Frisian language which is very different from the Dutch
language. We don't use that language in our house, but we can speak and
understand it.
Joure has about 16.000 inhabitants. It is a small, cosy village that has
a lot of facilities. It is the central town in a agricultural area. It is
also nearby some bigger places.
In my spare time I spend a lot of time with my friends and family, who
are very important to me. Things I like to do are: singing, dancing,
shopping, baking, drawing, reading, jogging, watch movies, listen to music
and having fun with my family and friends but also I like to have serious
conversations. It is very important to me to have contacts with others, as i
do like communicating with people.
That is also one big reason why I wanted to do this exchange, to meet all
these other people from different countries and with different cultures.
I also really like to travel and see other countries and places.
My family has been a host family for exchange students several times and the
cultures they brought with them have left an special impression with me. Now
I would like to take the opportunity to extend my horizon, learn and
experience all that is offered to me and I am very grateful and thankful
that I got to do this exchange year!
I am really looking forward to this exchange year and it has already been
wonderful since I am here for a month now.
I will make this: 'The best year of my life'!
