Molly's Bio

Hej!

My name's Molly Amos, I'm 17, and a junior at Tarpon Springs High School. I am happy to say that I am going to live in SWEDEN for a whole year. I am extremely excited and can't wait to leave! I wish it would come sooner.

I live with my parents, two sisters, and two dogs! My family and I our from St. Louis, Missouri and moved down here a while ago. I am going to miss my family and friends, but I know that they'll all be here when I come back. I love to go to the beach, tan, drive around with friends, shop, and bake. I know that my experience will only make me stronger and a better person.

After I come back from my exchange, I plan on going back to school for a semester so I can graduate, and apply for college in the Spring. I either want to major in journalism or nursing. I still am deciding. I'm not sure what college I want to attend yet, but I know I would like to attend somewhere out of state.

Anyway, I want to thank Rotary for giving me and the other exchange students this amazing opportunity and I want to thank my parents and all of my family for being so supportive and excited for me!

September 3

Okay so wow I can't believe it's time I am writing my first journal. I remember a year ago when I was signing up for this program and reading all the last year outbound journals and the time has finally time to write mine. I have been in Sweden for about a month now! Time really does fly by fast. The first couple of weeks were really hard for me. I knew it was going to be difficult to adjust to a new family and a new culture, but I guess I was so excited about going and being an exchange student I really didn't think I was going to have a hard time. But I was completely wrong. After the couple of weeks of being homesick, I slowly learn to except everything that was different and realized that it's a year that I will never be able to take back. So now I am loving my time here in Sweden and having so much fun.

I arrived in Copenhagen, Denmark August 4th nervous and anxious to meet my host family. After I meet my host family, we went back to the house and I slept all day because I was so tired and not use to the time difference yet. The next day they showed me around there little town named Ängleholm. My town is so cute with little shops everywhere with clothes, jewelry, shoes, purses, and so much more. I also got to see where I was going to school. Just about the same size as my school back home. Then that Thursday I had to go to language camp to meet the other exchange students in my district. The camp was so fun and I was so happy to meet everyone! I became good friends with a girl from New Zealand and she has been here for a half a year already and can speak Swedish so well. Also it was so good to see Alexa and I am so glad that she's in my district! After language camp, which ended that Sunday, I got to know the town a little better and just hung out around there and meet up with my counselor a couple of times. I was so nervous about starting school because I've been told by a lot of people that Swedes are very shy and they don't really go and talk to you, you have to be the one who talks with them and introduce yourself. So I was freaking out about school and I honestly didn't even want to go. But everything was fine! My class is so amazing. They are all so nice and welcoming. The girls in my class already were inviting me to do things with them this weekend and inviting me to birthday parties. I felt so welcomed and I love school here!! Of course I don't understand anything in class, but my friends are so nice and they translate everything for me. They are also helping me learn Swedish, which is so nice of them. Tomorrow we have a field trip to go and visit some castles so that should be fun. I am looking forward to it.

I am so glad that I went on this exchange and I know I made the right chose my going. I've already learned and did so much and it's only been a month. I can't wait to see what's ahead of me! I want to thank rotary for giving me this amazing opportunity and always being supportive.
